Anirvan Sengupta is a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Rutgers University. He currently works on biologically plausible networks that are capable of performing nontrivial computational tasks. To analyze such systems, he uses tools ranging from Dynamical Systems Theory, Stochastic Processes, to Statistical Field Theory. Before coming to Rutgers, he was a Member of Technical Staff at the Theory Physics Group at Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill. He did his postdoctoral work at École Normale Supérieure on Quantum Condensed Matter Physics. His PhD work on String Theory was done at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. Anirvan got his B.Sc. with Physics Honors from Presidency College, Kolkata.
